Hand sculpture 'Prarie House'
Sculpture happens in a random way - usually when I have some idea I want to explore. I often have it pretty completely worked out in my mind and need the energy of a normal pottery making work cycle to bring it to physical reality.
Two groups seem consistent:
Narrative sculptures- sometimes with alter-ego bubble as a protagonist. A series of seven are referred to as "Bubble and the Box" - following from entrapment to liberation.
Abstract hand sculpture- made to be turned in the hands and seen from many viewpoints.
Botanicals - sometimes inspired by living plants and sometimes (so far) by the photography of a botanist named Blosfeldt who worked in the 1920's; His studies of new leaves, seeds and flowers were made at times using a microscope.
